Ghana Destination
As the name implies, this tour gives tourists access to explore various regions and cities in Ghana. We will be travelling from the south to the east, to the north, all key destinations for anyone who wants to delve into the rich heritage of Ghana as a country. We will explore various tourist destinations in each region and acquaint ourselves with the cultural values and norms of each tribe by interacting with the locals. We will participate in some local activities, all in an effort to familiarize ourselves with the life of the everyday Ghanaian.
Day 1: Accra
Walking tour in the city depending on the time of arrival. Stay in Accra overnight.
Day 2: Eastern Region
Bonwire Kente Weaving Village
Bonwire Kente weaving village is a village located in Juaben, Kumasi. This is where the popular Ghanaian local cloth “kente” originated from. It is also one of the leading kente weaving locations in Ghana. Kente is a local cloth made up of different patterns, colors and designs which is worn on special occasions like festivals, weddings, naming ceremonies as well as enstoolment of kings, queens and chiefs.
Manhyia palace
Manhyia palace is the home of the King of Asante. It is a palace that upholds the heritage and values of centuries of Ashante culture. It is the administrative headquarters of the “Asante Kingdom”. The palace holds history of the Asantes since before the arrival of the British in the Gold Coast during colonial rule till date.
Day 3 – Kumasi
Okomfo Anokye Sword site
Okomfo Anokye Sword Site is a sacred site to the people of Asante. It is the site where Okomfo Anokye, a high priest in Ghana planted an unmovable sword known as “the sword of unity and strength” to aid in uniting Akans in Ghana. Till now, there are no records of the sword being removed by visitors and nationals.
Prempeh II Jubilee Museum
Prempeh II Museum, popularly known as Kumasi National and Cultural Center, is a national workshop for crafts, art performances and a museum. The museum was established by Nana Prempeh II and is well noted for portraying Asante culture and history. At the museum, visitors learn about the lifestyle and beliefs of the Ashantis. Drive from Kumasi to Tamale. The night will be spent at a hotel in Tamale.

Day 4 – Tamale
Mole National Park
The Mole National Park is one of Ghana’s largest wildlife Parks which serve as a habitat to countless and multiple animals and plant types including elephants, Buffaloes, and many others.
Larabanga Mosque
It is a small Islamic Mosque which had its foundation naturally built with Its style and architecture different from all other mosques in the world making it a leading tourist site in the northern region of Ghana.
Larabanga Mystic Stone
The Mystery Stone is another interesting tourist site in the Larabanga township: the Mystery behind the stone is that, the stone always moves back to its original resting place when it has been moved from its original place. The night will be spent at a hotel in Tamale.
Day 5 – Tamale
City Tour
We will get the opportunity to interact with the locals and take a walk through the city of Tamale.
Hotel relaxation
After this, we will take the opportunity to relax at the hotel. Drive back to Kumasi. Overnight stay in Kumasi.
Day 6 – Cape Coast
Assin Manso Slave Camp
Assin Manso Slave Camp is a pure historical site where tourists are briefed on the slaves who were taken through the camp for their last bath and later to be auctioned before they were taken to the slave forts. Slaves who were not selected were sometimes shot dead and buried in a hole together. This is a sacred site where people believe the spirits of many ancestors reside and can be felt.
Cape Coast Castle
Cape Coast Castle is one of the largest of the castles built by European powers in today Ghana. It began as a trade lodge constructed by the Portuguese in 1555 on a part of the Gold Coast, which later became known as the Cape Coast. The Cape Coast Castle has served as the West African headquarters of the president of the Committee of Merchants; the seat of the British governor; and a school.
Day 7 – Cape Coast
Kakum National Park
The Kakum National Park was established in 1932. Kakum National Park is a home for lovers of nature. The Park is made up of mostly undisturbed virgin rainforest and is one of the famous national parks in Ghana. It protects plant and animal treasures of the African tropical forest. Trails provide self-guided day hiking opportunities where you may sight some over 200 bird species represented: the parrot, bee-eaters, blue plantain-eaters, hornbills, and kingfishers. The dense vegetation provides cover for globally endangered species such as the forest elephant and bongo – the largest forest antelope, as well as various types of monkeys. The Canopy Walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, provides a treetop view of the beautiful forest.
Elmina Castle
Elmina Castle was established by Portuguese in 1482 as São Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine) in Elmina, Ghana (formerly the Gold Coast). Elmina and Elmina Castle was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, so is the oldest European building in existence below the Sahara. It was first established as a trade settlement, but later became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade. Today, Elmina Castle is a popular historical destination for tourists seeking to connect with their heritage and a powerful reminder of the history of the slave trade. The castle is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage. Drive to Accra. Overnight stay in Accra.
Day 8 – Volta Region
Shai hills Resource Reserve
Ghana is a great destination for bird watching with over 760 bird species and this is one of the amazing places for bird watching.One can encounter the local bird life at a comfortable pace. Shai Hills is a good site to see many species of birds and other insects. There are other animals like zebras, ostriches and deer. There are many caves which used to serve as a home for many native centuries ago.
Adomi Bridge
Adomi Bridge is a very beautiful bridge located at Akosombo. It’s surrounded by a man-made Lake and islands. The Lake generates electricity for Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso etc.
Cedi Bead Factory
It is a site for learning bead making and checking out already made beads displayed for purchase. Guests will get the opportunity to experience the process of bead making from start to finish. The night will be spent in a hotel in Volta Region.
Day 9 – Volta Region
Mountain Afadjato
It’s a beautiful tourist site in the Volta Region and the highest mountain in Ghana, welcoming over thousands of visitors around the world. It takes 40mins-2hours to climb the mountain, but it depends on the individual.
Wli Waterfall
The Wli Falls is known to be the longest/highest waterfall in West Africa. The fall is locally known as Agumatsa waterfalls, which simply means “Allow Me to Flow ”. It is located approximately 280 km from the capital city of Ghana, Accra.
Tafi Monkey Sanctuary
It is a forest and a habitat to over 700 Sacred Mona Monkeys population that live in a protected virgin forest which is in a ‘U’ shape form. Guests will get the opportunity to see the monkeys up close and feed them. These mona monkeys are very friendly and love to pose for pictures with guests. Drive back to Accra. Overnight stay in Accra
Day 10 – Accra
Dubois Center
The center is named after William Edward Burghardt Du Bois who was an African-American civil rights activist and later became a citizen of Ghana in the 1960s. He is often known as the ‘Father of Pan-Africanism’. The centre is where he once lived with his wife and where they are now buried. It houses his personal library, a small museum with a handful of personal effects such as his graduation robes. The mausoleum is surrounded by Asante stools, a seminar room, a restaurant, a gallery, an amphitheater and a research center for Pan-African history and culture.
Kwame Nkrumah Museum
Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum is also known as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. It is the last resting place of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This museum is dedicated to him to honour his dedication in liberating Ghana, formerly known as Gold Coast, from colonial rule. The Museum houses the personal effects and publications of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and pictures showing his life history with some of the most famous people of his time.
Art Center
The Centre for National Culture crafts market can also be simply known as the Arts Center. There are so many stalls selling different varieties of Ghanaian inspired arts and crafts and this is one of the cool places to shop in Accra. There is so much to see and buy from woven Kente cloth, wooden sculptures to earrings and other fashion accessories matched with the latest in African Attire fashion from all over Ghana.
Black Star Square
Kwame Nkrumah commissioned the Independence Square, also known as Black Star Square, to honor the visit of Queen Elizabeth II. Independence Square is a vast, empty expanse of concrete overlooked by spectator stands which can seat about 30,000 people. The Independence Arch was an inspiration to other African countries vying for independence and the Flame of African Liberation. The roundabout before the square contains, in the center, the Black Star Gate also known as the Black Star Monument which was built in 1961. The vast area, built under Kwame Nkrumah, is designed for huge events and military marches and commercial events such as concerts and fashion shows, which take place throughout the year.
